About Me

Hi, my name is Tom. I am a PTR certified tennis pro and I've been teaching tennis for 30 years. I originally began my teaching career when former Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback, Ron Jaworksi hired me as a staff pro at his tennis club outside of Philadelphia. I had been teaching for two years when I was promoted to director of junior programming and within five years I also took on the title of club director, all while teaching full time. I continued to teach in the Philadelphia area until I relocated to Central Florida in 2014. I first began playing tennis at the age of 15 under the tutelage of former professional tennis player and coach, Julian Krinsky. I played some singles, but primarily doubles in college and was named rookie of the year in my freshman year. While teaching full time after college I continued to compete in local and regional USTA sanctioned tournaments. During a three year stretch I achieved a top 75 ranking and a personal best 30 ranking in middle states.

Teaching Style

While many pros get caught up in the latest teaching fads and abandon all former methods of teaching, I have watched the evolution of tennis mechanics over the course of three decades which allows me to use various techniques depending on the student's capabilities and abilities. Far too many tennis coaches and academies approach their students, young or old, as just another number on a conveyor belt that produces clones. Although there are core basics to mechanics of tennis, I generally will not teach a 45-year-old club player in the same fashion I would a high school athlete. Doing so can and will lead to frustration, injury and a very short lived tennis career. Many methods I use are old school, many are new, but the key to my approach is to keep the learning process simple, fun and injury free, no matter what.
